Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) are a chain of co-educational, fully residential schools established by the Government of India under the National Policy on Education, 1986. These schools are run by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education.
Every year, NVS conducts the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST) for admission into Class 6. For the academic session 2026-27, the admission notification is now released.

Eligibility Criteria for JNVST 2026
- District-Specific Admission – Candidate must be studying in Class V (session 2025-26) in the same district where JNV is located.
- Age Limit – Born between 01-05-2014 to 31-07-2016 (both dates inclusive).
- School Type – Must be from a Government/Government-aided/recognized school.
- Rural Quota – At least 75% seats reserved for rural candidates.
- No Repeaters Allowed – Students who passed Class V in previous years are not eligible.
- Aadhaar Requirement – Aadhaar number or Aadhaar enrollment is mandatory.
Exam Pattern of JNVST 2026
The JNVST 2026 exam will be objective type (MCQ-based) with a total of 80 questions for 100 marks.

Reservation of Seats
- 75% seats reserved for Rural candidates.

- Minimum 1/3rd seats reserved for Girls.
- 3% seats reserved for Divyang (PH) students.
